Bhumi is one of India’s largest youth-led organisations working to make quality education

accessible to all children. Through the Bhumi Fellowship, we aim to create a movement of

changemakers who will improve learning outcomes in government schools and build a better

education system.

About the STEM Fellowship

The STEM Fellowship is a full-time, two-year paid opportunity for passionate individuals to

create meaningful change in the lives of children. As a STEM Fellow, you will inspire curiosity

and a love for learning by teaching Mathematics and Science to students in Grades 6 and 7 at

low-income English-medium schools in Chennai. Beyond the classroom, you will play a key role

in shaping better learning environments by collaborating with teachers and school leaders to

improve the overall school experience.

Roles and Responsibilities of a STEM Fellow:

• Teach Maths, Science, and Social-Emotional learning (SEL) to students using fun and engaging methods.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and Headmasters to enhance school systems.
• Plan and conduct school-level STEM events or exhibitions, and engage school stakeholders towards STEM outcomes
• In the second year, implement a project to solve a real challenge in the school/community.

Who Can Apply

• Graduates from Science and Maths Background (BSc, BE &BTech preferred).
• Passionate about teaching and working with children.
• Willing to commit to 2 full years in Chennai.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Is willing to commit 2 years towards working in a school atmosphere.Growth mindset and openness to feedback.
• Interpersonal skills to build trust and engage students, teachers, and parents.
• Reflection, Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace tools.
• Self-driven, empathetic, and adaptable to change.

Other Information

• Monthly stipend: ₹25,500 (includes ₹5,500 towards allowances, including house rent, laptop, mobile, and reimbursements).
• Reporting To: Program Manager, Bhumi Fellowship.
• Training: Regular workshops on teaching and leadership.
• Mentorship: One-on-one support to grow as a teacher and leader.
• Seed Fund: Upon Successful completion of 2 years and graduating from the fellowship, fellows will get ₹1,00,000 to support educational initiatives post-fellowship.
• Career Pathways: Guidance for future opportunities in teaching, education leadership, policy, or higher studies.
