Staff Engineer

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to collaborate with various teams in developing and executing robust solutions, guiding fellow engineers, and promoting technical excellence. Your main focus will involve engaging with our startup and mid-size clients. Our projects revolve around solving One-to-N challenges, where the concept has been proven, and the emphasis is on scalability, maintainability, and reliability. This position bridges platform architecture and engineering prowess. You will spearhead technical projects related to infrastructure, distributed systems, and performance enhancement while providing guidance to other team members. From conceptualizing system designs to ensuring production resilience, you will be instrumental in shaping the development and expansion of platforms capable of managing extensive data processing volumes daily, with optimal throughput and minimal latency. Responsibilities: - Assume responsibility for system design and architecture concerning major projects - Develop and uphold technical documentation using ADRs and RFCs - Participate in architecture evaluations and assist teams in making sound technical choices - Enhance system reliability, performance, and scalability - Address intricate technical issues, particularly those related to bottlenecks and scaling - Mentor colleagues, fostering their technical growth - Collaborate with the team to determine whether to build or acquire essential components - Devise high-throughput, low-latency systems with scalability in mind - Lead performance optimization endeavors throughout the technology stack Requirements: - Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python (preferably exceptional in one and proficient in others) - Strong comprehension of system design, especially in terms of scalability and reliability - Sound knowledge of Linux internals, containers, and networking fundamentals - Practical experience with distributed systems, encompassing consensus, consistency models, and graceful failure management - Proven track record of working with data clusters like Kafka and Cassandra at scale - Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining systems processing terabytes of data daily - Expertise in AWS architecture, particularly data processing services such as Kinesis, compute services like ECS and EKS, and storage solutions like S3, EBS, and EFS - Familiarity with cloud cost optimization and infrastructure efficiency - Ability to identify bottlenecks across the entire stack, from code profiling to APM tool utilization - History of mentoring and coaching engineers with technical acumen - Effective communication skills and the capacity to influence without formal authority Even if you believe you do not possess all the technical proficiencies mentioned above, do not hesitate to apply if you possess more than 50% of the skills and a strong eagerness to tackle intriguing engineering challenges at scale.
