Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test

Addepar is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - IC3 to be a hands-on in quality for our wealth management solutions. This is a crucial individual contributor role where you will design, implement, and drive the quality engineering processes necessary to ensure our trading application is delivered on time and with exceptional quality and reliability.

You will act as the quality expert, working strategically with diverse internal teams including Engineering, Product, Solutions Architecture, Data Solutions, and the Release Team. Your primary focus will be high-leverage technical contributions, driving automation, and owning the quality strategy for key application components.

Own Quality Strategy & Automation (Execution Focus)

• Design, develop, and maintain a robust, scalable test architecture and test suites for the core trading application, focusing on critical business flows, performance, and reliability.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and strategy for new features and releases, taking ownership from design to deployment.
• Drive end-to-end quality initiatives for team features, ensuring seamless integration and release readiness.
• Implement automated testing strategies that run reliably within our CI/CD pipeline, actively reducing manual effort and speeding up feedback loops.
• Collaborate directly with development engineers to identify and drive opportunities for improving

  unit, integration, and service-level tests

• Develop and maintain technical documentation related to testing frameworks, processes, and test results

Analysis, Reporting, and Release Management

• Serve as the primary QE representative in release processes, providing data-driven input for Go/NoGo decisions.
• Manage and analyze defect tracking, identifying patterns and performing root cause analysis of defect leakage to pinpoint and drive systemic process improvements.
• Participate in incident postmortems and implement preventive measures and long-term fixes in the test suites and pipeline.
• Create, maintain, and report on quality and coverage dashboards for high-visibility metrics on the trading solution.

Production Quality and Monitoring

• Design, own, and execute Production Verification Tests (PVTs) immediately following deployments.
• Analyze production incidents to identify missed coverage and gaps in the testing process, subsequently implementing the necessary test automation to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor production releases and validate deployment success using automated checks and deep technical knowledge of the system.

Technical Contribution & Tooling

• Actively research, evaluate, and propose new tools, technologies, and testing methodologies to enhance the team’s overall quality engineering effectiveness.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in Quality Engineering and SDET practices, applying relevant knowledge to improve our platform.
• Provide hands-on, expert-level consultation and technical guidance to development teams on testing best practices, testability, and quality-centric coding patterns.

• At least 6 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance for front office applications in investment banking, wealth management
• Must have strong experience with Automation and API testing.
• Strong understanding of software testing principles, including black box, white box,
• Hands-on experience in defining, designing, and executing acceptance criteria based scenarios
• Strong knowledge of Quality Engineering in Agile ways of working
• Experience leading SDET teams for multiple products and managing delivery outcomes
• Knowledge of Equity products and product lifecycle is a must
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure team with tight deadlines and deliver on time.
• Experience working with a global team and good communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Expertise in Jira and knowledge of DORA metrics is must
• Experience with Kubernetes, Data Bricks and cloud platforms is a plus.
• Experience with Java, selenium, playwright will be required.
