As a member of the Cloud Platform team, you will advocate for the developer experience on the Target Application Platform (TAP), which delivers "cloud without complexity." Your role will focus on developing various components of Virtual Machine as a Service solution/APIs app teams to deploy VMs in Target data centres. APIs streamlining the path to production for application developers, minimizing friction as they deploy to a any compute across our hybrid cloud. You'll collabo rate with expert compute provider engineers proficient in building, deploying, and managing APIs/platform. Your efforts will enhance the platform by enabling features that simplify development, deployment & allowing users to focus on what matters most. Team Overview The Compute team manages builds, development, run and operations of the compute service offerings and the service provider infrastructure in Target s datacenters, distribution centers and stores. This includes APIs/app develop ment, compute infrastructure as code, support and operations. As a member of the Compute team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the capabilities that serves Target s hybrid cloud. Position Overview As a Senior Engineer, you are a vital specialist in the engineering team supporting our capabilities/offerings. You translate architectural concepts into concrete designs and influence their implementation, applying software engineering patterns to create robust, scalable systems. You will evaluate emerging technologies, lead research and proof-of-concept initiatives, and manage product lifecycles and financial forecasting. Your responsibilities include conducting code and design reviews, testing, and debugging, while ensuring compliance with architectural best practices. You will facilitate functional design discussions, participate in implementation ac tivities, and provide technical oversight, helping resolve complex issues. Additionally, you will lead disaster recovery and continuous testing efforts throughout the lifecycle of a product. Please note that responsibilities may evolve based on business needs. Education Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. Experience5+ years of relevant experience in software development and cloud concepts/infrastructure. Technical Qualification 4+ years degree or equivalent industry experience comprising below outlined areas. Intermediate GoLang Programming with core cloud concepts and infrastructure Working knowledge of Git, SW development best practices Working knowledge of at least one Server virtualization tech, Ubuntu Operating System, Ansible Working knowledge of algorithms, Rest/gRPC API development, data structures Automated testing Knowledge of microservices architecture - Unit & Integration. Experience deploying and supporting cloud-based infrastructure Str ty, load balancing, high availability, persistent/ephemeral compute), storage and networking Knowledge of Containerization and Orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Containerd) will be an added advantage. Experience in production support and operations management Metrics & Logging - Experience with using Influx, Grafana & ELK stack would be added bonus Good verbal and written communication skills - able to document and share design and specifications with team members and partners Excellent communication skills both formal and informal, written and in-person Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests Ready to learn attitude and an ability to learn quickly.
