Spend Classification & Analysis Consultant

(Healthcare Spend Classification Project - All Categories)

About the Project:

This role involves working closely with internal teams and subject matter experts to analyze, structure, and interpret complex procurement data for hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and

  classify organization-wide spend data

  (medical and non-medical) using industry-standard or custom taxonomies (e.g., UNSPSC, GS1, or organization-specific category structures).
• Collaborate with category experts (biomedical, pharma, facilities) to refine category structures.
• Review supplier records, purchase orders, and item descriptions for accurate category mapping.
• Identify spend patterns, supplier overlaps, and optimization opportunities.

Required Skills:

• Bachelors/Master’s in

  Business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or related field

  .
• 2+ years’ experience in spend classification and analysis, procurement analytics, or category management preferably in a healthcare or multi-site organization.
• Strong proficiency in

  Excel /data handling tools

  .
• Familiarity with

  healthcare procurement categories

  , including both medical and non-medical spend (e.g., facilities, IT, admin, maintenance, logistics).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to validate large volumes of item-level data.

Preferred Experience:

• Exposure to

  UNSPSC / GS1

  taxonomy systems.
• Experience with

  spend analytics platforms

  or consulting projects or spend classification projects.
• Prior work with consulting firms, hospital procurement teams, or shared service centers.
• Background in

  healthcare procurement or supply chain

  preferred.

Location & Engagement:

• Remote or hybrid engagement based on project requirements.
• Duration and workload to be determined based on project phase and scope.
