Job Description

Program Management & Governance

Lead and manage the end-to-end SOX compliance operations, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
Maintain the SOX program calendar and ensure adherence to timelines for control testing, deficiency remediation, and certifications.
Serve as the primary point of contact for SOX compliance queries, escalations, and updates.

Risk & Control Management

Oversee the scoping, risk assessment, and control identification for in-scope entities and processes.
Ensure control design effectiveness and support enhancements to address evolving risks.
Coordinate with process owners to ensure timely execution of key controls and resolution of identified deficiencies.
Support implementation of internal control frameworks and best practices.

Testing & Audit Coordination

Manage and review walkthroughs, control testing, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SOX standards.
Partner with internal and external auditors for smooth execution of testing cycles and audit engagements.
Track and monitor deficiencies, remediation plans, and retesting status to closure.
Ensure quality and consistency in control evidence and workpapers.
Performing work on SOX 404 engagement: conducting tests of control design and operating effectiveness, ensuring high-quality work through complete and accurate testing documentation.
Manage a portfolio of engagements by leading a team of Team Leads, Senior Associates, and Associates/ Analyst
Ensure the work delivered is high quality through spot checks, periodic reviews, and quality review/ assurance processes. Ensure established turnaround times and the allotted budgets are met.
Communicate compliance status, risks, and control issues to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

Partner with Finance, IT, Risk, and Compliance teams to drive SOX readiness and control ownership.
Provide regular updates and dashboards on program status, key risks, and remediation progress to leadership.
Conduct trainings, awareness sessions, and workshops for control owners and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements in SOX testing and monitoring.
Enhance program efficiency through technology enablement, data analytics, and standardized processes.
Benchmark practices with industry peers and regulatory guidance.

Strong knowledge of SOX regulations and compliance operations.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Proven stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking ability.
Effective communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
Proficiency in SOX compliance tools, GRC platforms (e.g. Audit Board, Workiva), and MS Office suite.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail.

Education: Bachelors or Masters in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Professional Certifications: CPA, CA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
812 years of relevant experience in SOX compliance, internal controls, risk management, or auditing.
Minimum 35 years in a managerial/lead role overseeing SOX or internal controls programs.
Experience in working with external auditors and senior stakeholders.
Strong understanding of US GAAP, COSO framework, PCAOB standards, and ITGC/automated controls.

Timely and successful completion of SOX testing cycles and certifications.
Minimal deficiencies and smooth closure of audit findings.
Improved maturity of control environment and governance processes.
Stakeholder satisfaction and readiness for external audits.
