Sourcing & Costing- EV Powertrain Components

Key Responsibilities (Based on Sourcing Process & Domain)

1. Sourcing Process Execution & Negotiation

The engineer will manage the full lifecycle of the sourcing process for assigned commodities:

• Understand Specification & Requirements:

  Collaborate closely with EV R&D and Design teams to

  understand technical specifications and requirements

  for new and existing EV Powertrain components (e.g., motor performance, inverter topology, battery system layout).

• RFQ/RFI Preparation:

  Prepare and issue professional

  Request for Information (RFI) / Request for Quotation (RFQ)

  documents to potential suppliers, ensuring all technical and commercial requirements are clearly defined.

• Cost Negotiation:

  Lead

  cost negotiation

  with suppliers, utilizing

  should-cost models

  and market benchmarking to achieve year-on-year cost reductions (VAVE).

• Supplier Identification, Selection & Audit:

  Conduct technical and commercial screening, support

  supplier audit

  processes, and drive

  supplier selection

  with the cross-functional team.

• Contract Management:

  Support the drafting and execution of

  contract management

  documents (MSA, NDA), ensuring favourable terms for the organization.

2. Operational Procurement & Supply Chain Management

• PO Preparation:

  Ensure timely and accurate

  PO Preparation

  (Purchase Order) and follow-up on order confirmation and delivery schedules.

• Supplier On boarding:

  Manage the technical and commercial

  supplier on boarding

  process, including system setup and initial documentation (PPAP).

• Risk Mitigation:

  Actively monitor and mitigate operational supply risks (e.g., delivery delays, quality issues) and implement

  Risk Mitigation

  strategies.

• TCO Analysis:

  Utilize

  Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

  methodologies during sourcing decisions to evaluate all associated costs (logistics, quality, warranty) beyond just the unit price.

3. Technical & Strategic Support

• Technical Commodity Focus:

  Primarily manage sourcing for one or more of the following:

  Traction Motors, Inverters, DC-DC Converters, OBCs, or HV Connectors/Cabling.

• Develop Sourcing Strategy:

  Provide data and recommendations to the Manager/Deputy Manager to support the

  development of sourcing strategy

  for the Powertrain category.

• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):

  Maintain effective

  Supplier Relationship Management

  (SRM) with key vendors to ensure strong performance and collaboration on technical issues.
