Job Description

Position Overview

The Sound Technician is responsible for managing all audio-related requirements for school events.

Key Responsibilities1. Event Audio Management

  • Set up, test, and operate sound systems for daily assemblies, stage shows, annual functions, PTMs, competitions, and special events.
  • Manage microphones, audio mixers, speakers, amplifiers, and recording devices during events.
  • Ensure optimal sound quality and volume control throughout programs.
  • Coordinate with event organisers, music teachers, and performers for sound cues and requirements.

2. Equipment Maintenance & Inventory

  • Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance of all sound equipment.
  • Troubleshoot audio issues and perform minor repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of microphones, speakers, cables, amplifiers, and related hardware.
  • Ensure proper storage and safe handling of all audio-visual equipment.

3. Technical Support

  • Provide audio support for morning assemblies, classroom presentations, workshops, and competitions.
  • Assist with audio setup for online classes, virtual events, and recordings.
  • Support teachers and students in using audio equipment safely and effectively.

4. Coordination & Documentation

  • Collaborate with IT, Admin, and Cultural Department for smooth event execution.
  • Document usage records, equipment issues, and service/repair history.
  • Assist in procurement planning for new or upgraded equipment.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure cables, speakers, and sound systems are installed safely to avoid hazards.
  • Follow school policies and guidelines related to equipment handling, noise levels, and event safety.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of audio systems, mixers, amplifiers, and microphones.
  • Hands-on experience with live sound mixing and event audio setup.
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure during live events.
  • Good coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Time management and attention to detail.

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma / Certification in Sound Engineering, Audio Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 1-5 years experience in sound operations, preferably in schools, auditoriums, or event environments.
  • Freshers with strong technical knowledge may also be considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
