Solution Engineer

The role of the Solutions Engineering function is to provide Engineering design & implementation leadership across Technology & Business led project work including Merger & Acquisition integrations into the Apex eco-system.

Partnering with the Architecture, Platform and PMO Functions (Amongst others) throughout the project lifecycle. Working using Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid delivery approaches to produce the high and/or low level designs for the technology aspects, ensuring compliance to Engineering standards.

Liaising with Service Operations to ensure a smooth transition into production, ensuring relevant documentation (Including Standard Operating Procedures) are in place. You will have a strong background in infrastructure technologies, tools and modern automation strategies, as well as being proactive (internal and external) in the education, promotion and reporting on key performance indicators expected of an enterprise financial services company.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Producing the Infrastructure Low Level Design deliverables based on the Architecture artifacts
• Responsible for the planning and implementation of projects and assist with migration projects arising from mergers and acquisitions.
• Responsible for ensuring that delivery and support teams are aware for any new service being introduced that may require training and education of the respective teams
• Build an excellent awareness of the Apex business requirements and in-depth knowledge of our Azure & AWS Cloud infrastructure, adjacent technologies, and supporting processes
• Development and maintenance of Engineering Standards, Controls & Governance
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation
• Optimise savings through appropriate designs
• KPI and KRI reporting
• Manage Technology risk within appetite
• Assist with audits and compliance monitoring
• Ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise, and persuasive communication for multiple audiences, including effective writing, presentation skills, listening actively
• Provide technical input into vendors proposal, change requests, and incident management

Experience and skills

• Excellent written and communication skills in English.
• Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline.
• 5+ years deep technical experience in designing, building, and deploying private or public cloud solutions, Microsoft technologies, storage, virtualization.
• Ability to take ownership of a technical solution and work with several stakeholders (internal and external) to produce and deliver solution designs.
• Proven skills and excellent understanding of Azure/AWS, Azure AD, Virtual networks, Load Balancers, ADFS, Windows server OS and all adjacent services like Active directory, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, IIS etc.
• Certification in Azure/AWS or Windows Server administration
• Knowledge in Citrix desktop virtualisation technologies and Office365 will be considered as a strong advantage
• Working understanding of Terraform scripting is a requirement
