Solar Technician / Engineer

Core Responsibilities

• Installation: Install solar panels on rooftops or ground-mounted structures according to blueprints and schematics.
• Electrical Work: Wire solar panels, ground equipment, and connect systems to electrical grids.
• Testing & Commissioning: Test electrical systems and circuits to ensure proper functionality and performance of the solar installation.
• Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults to optimize the lifespan and efficiency of the solar system.
• Site Assessment: Perform site surveys to assess locations for suitability and plan installation.
• Quality Assurance: Monitor, diagnose, and repair underperforming PV systems.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, solar PV technology, and experience with hand and power tools.
• Safety Awareness: Strict adherence to health and safety guidelines, especially when working at heights or in various weather conditions.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical equipment and diagnose system malfunctions.
• Communication: Skills to interact with clients, engineers, and project managers, as well as provide detailed reports.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including carrying heavy equipment and working outdoors.

Common Tasks

• Conducting site surveys and creating installation plans.
• Installing solar panels and associated equipment, such as inverters.
• Connecting panels to the main electrical system.
• Performing electrical continuity tests.
• Inspecting systems and identifying malfunctions.
• Cleaning solar panels to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Calibrating and optimizing system components.
• Documenting site conditions and system performance.
