Job Description

As an Engineering Director at Salesforce, you will be responsible for leveraging your deep business, industry, and product knowledge to ensure customer success by effectively managing a team of Engineers and Architects. Your role will involve specializing in specific lines of business or industries to speak the customer language and ensure customer value realization. You will be aligned with the cloud strategy, building positive relationships to assist customers on their digital journey. Key Responsibilities: - Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross-functional teams, architects, product owners, and engineering managers. - Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product. - Proactively foresee issues and resolve them before they occur. - Partner with Product Management to align objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risks. - Ensure teams have clear priorities and sufficient resources. - Empower the delivery team to self-coordinate. - Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members. - Maintain high morale and motivate the team to excel. - Advocate for technical excellence and facilitate good decision-making within the teams. - Participate in architecture discussions, planning, and multi-functional coordination with other engineering teams. - Uphold and promote the company culture through selective hiring processes. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is mandatory. - Minimum of 7 years leading software engineering teams on fast-paced projects. - Experience with large scale distributed systems, microservices, and/or distributed architecture. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and time management skills. - Flexibility, proactivity, and comfort working with minimal specifications. - Familiarity with short release cycles, full software lifecycle, and public product releases. - Proficiency in hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers. - Knowledge of software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, testing, and operations. - Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies, Scrum Master experience is a must. - Ability to communicate effectively with users, technical teams, and product management to understand requirements and describe technical designs. Preferred Qualifications: - In-depth understanding of Salesforce product features and platform capabilities. - Articulate the importance and value of Governance to Business and IT executives. - Strong grasp of enterprise architecture principles. - Ability to explain technological and business concepts clearly. - Serve as a trusted advisor, demonstrating curiosity to understand customers" needs and motivations for ensuring their success.
