Job Summary:

The Site Survey Engineer is responsible for conducting detailed site inspections and feasibility studies for proposed solar installations. The role ensures accurate technical data collection, assessment of site conditions, and preparation of reports that support design, engineering, and project execution teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Assessment & Feasibility

• Conduct on-site surveys to assess roof structure, shading, orientation, and available area for solar panel installation.
• Measure and record roof dimensions, tilt angles, azimuths, and shadow analysis using appropriate tools and software.
• Evaluate site suitability for solar installation considering safety, accessibility, and structural strength.

Data Collection & Documentation

• Collect necessary technical details such as load details, meter readings, main panel specifications, and electrical layouts.
• Capture high-quality photos and videos for documentation.
• Prepare detailed site survey reports with accurate measurements and observations.

• Coordination with Teams

• Coordinate with the design and engineering team to provide all required inputs for system design and layout.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and customer teams to ensure technical feasibility and clarity.
• Support project execution by clarifying site-related issues.

Technical Evaluation

• Assess structural and electrical constraints that may impact installation.
• Identify potential risks or challenges (e.g., roof integrity, electrical load, cable routing, inverter placement).
• Recommend suitable installation methods and equipment placement.

Tools & Equipment Handling

• Use instruments such as measuring tape, laser meter, inclinometer, solar pathfinder, drone (if required), and compass.
• Maintain and calibrate survey tools regularly.

Reporting & Communication

• Submit accurate survey reports within stipulated timelines.
• Maintain a record of all surveys conducted and provide weekly updates to management.
• Ensure customer interactions are professional and informative during site visits.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education:

  Diploma or B.E/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or any other related field.

• Experience:

  0–5 years of experience in solar project site surveys (residential/commercial).

• Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of solar PV systems, modules, inverters, and mounting structures.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD (basic layout preparation), and survey tools.
• Understanding of single-line diagrams (SLDs) and load assessment.

• Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• Willingness to travel extensively.

• Number of site surveys completed per week/month
• Accuracy of site data and reports
• Timely submission of reports
• Feedback from design and execution teams
• Customer satisfaction during site visits
