The Team / Department

The Information Technology Division manages, implements and supports the overall technology requirements within the AJG organisation. It provides a strategy, formulated in close alignment with the business, to deliver these requirements. It aims to establish a deep level of professionalism and confidence in the IT service, change delivery capability & overarching strategy.

The Technology team will have accountability for IT strategy development and maintenance alongside BAU Activities, to support the business in the overall IT architecture and design function, directing and driving the technical direction and quality processes which form part of the overall technology platforms.

Overview of Role / Role Purpose

A SharePoint engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and managing the migration of data, applications, and workflows from legacy systems to SharePoint. Work closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to assess the existing infrastructure, identify migration requirements, and develop a migration strategy. The engineer is responsible for ensuring a smooth and seamless transition of data and applications to SharePoint, while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity. Provide technical support and troubleshooting during the migration process and ensure that all migrated content is accessible and functional in the new SharePoint environment. Designing and implementing SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, and workflows to meet business needs. Configuring and customizing SharePoint features and functionalities, such as document management, collaboration, search, and security. Developing and deploying custom SharePoint solutions using tools like SharePoint Designer, Visual Studio, and PowerShell. Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to SharePoint infrastructure, performance, and user access. A SharePoint engineer should have a strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, migration tools, and best practices to successfully complete the migration process.

  • Customizing SharePoint sites: SharePoint developers are responsible for customizing the look and feel of SharePoint sites, including branding, themes, and layouts.
  • Configuring and managing SharePoint environments: This includes setting up and configuring SharePoint servers, databases, and other infrastructure components. SharePoint developers may also be responsible for managing user permissions and security settings.
  • Integrating SharePoint with other systems: SharePoint developers often need to integrate SharePoint with other systems and applications, such as CRM systems, document management systems, or third-party tools. This may involve developing custom connectors or using SharePoint's built-in integration capabilities.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues: SharePoint developers are responsible for identifying and resolving any issues or bugs in SharePoint solutions. This may involve debugging code, analyzing logs, or working with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders: SharePoint developers often work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and other team members to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver SharePoint solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Documenting and maintaining SharePoint solutions: SharePoint developers are responsible for documenting their work, including technical specifications, code documentation, and user guides. They may also be responsible for maintaining and updating SharePoint solutions as needed.

  • Knowledge of Related Technologies: Familiarity with related technologies such as Microsoft Office 365, Azure, SQL Server, Active Directory, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with the latest SharePoint trends, updates, and best practices. Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools in the SharePoint ecosystem.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing SharePoint projects, including planning, prioritizing tasks, and meeting project deadlines. Ability to work in a team and coordinate with other IT teams for seamless integration of SharePoint with other systems.

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
