Set Designers

The position involves producing plans, drawings, and models of sets, preparing estimates of set costs, and effectively managing budgets. You will need to bring imaginative and innovative ideas for set designing, regularly discussing them with the creative director. Staying updated on current and upcoming trends in set design is crucial for creating the best possible sets. Designing both interior and exterior sets according to approved visual development is part of the role. Creating detailed working drawings at appropriate scales, including scale sets and occasional props, is essential. You will convey the artistic style of a production through drawings and model work, coordinating with supervisors and other departments as necessary. Adhering to schedules set by the Creative Department and exploring potential outside broadcast sites during rehearsals/film takes are also key responsibilities. Qualifications & Skills: - A Bachelor's degree or diploma in designing is required. - Solid aesthetic sense and the ability to interpret a film's unique "style" are essential. - Proficiency in software such as Vector Works, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator is necessary. - Working knowledge of waterjet, laser cut systems, printers, and scanners is preferred. - Clear understanding of miniature scale and forced perspective is expected. - Strong knowledge of drafting standards, views, and conventions is vital. - Genuine interest in, knowledge of, and experience in visual arts are advantageous. - Qualities of determination and perseverance are crucial for success in this role.,
