Job Description

Job Summary:

The ServiceNow CMDB Administrator (L3) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This role involves ensuring data integrity, building automation, integrating data sources, and aligning CMDB processes with ITIL and organizational standards. The L3 administrator acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for CMDB and discovery processes, providing guidance to the operations and service management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the

    ServiceNow CMDB

    , ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with configuration management policies.
  • Design and implement

    discovery schedules, probes, and patterns

    to keep CMDB data current.
  • Perform

    data reconciliation, normalization, and duplicate management

    to maintain CMDB quality.
  • Integrate CMDB with other ServiceNow modules such as

    Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Management

    .
  • Develop and maintain

    data import processes

    ,

    integration maps

    , and

    API connections

    from external systems.
  • Manage

    CI (Configuration Item) classes, relationships, and data models

    within the CMDB.
  • Create and enforce

    governance policies and compliance checks

    for CMDB updates and data changes.
  • Collaborate with

    ServiceNow developers, ITSM process owners, and infrastructure teams

    to ensure accurate configuration data flow.
  • Conduct

    audits, health checks, and CMDB performance monitoring

    .
  • Lead

    root cause analysis

    for CMDB-related issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Contribute to

    automation and scripting

    (using JavaScript, Flow Designer, or IntegrationHub) to streamline CMDB management.
  • Train L1/L2 support teams on CMDB best practices, troubleshooting, and operational procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

    in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years

    of overall IT experience with at least

    3+ years

    in ServiceNow CM
