Are you driven by problem solving Do you thrive working with complex and large equipment Look no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Service Engineer with Electrical or Mechanical competence.We are seeking a hands-on expert to perform repair, maintenance and service on critical marine equipment. This includes MacGregor's and third-party equipment as cranes, hatch covers, and deck machinery. Your main discipline is electric or mechanical, basic understanding of hydraulics systems is a plus but not required. Your commitment to quality and safety will be crucial in ensuring our customers vessels operate smoothly and that we meet our service objectives.You will work at local shipyards and ports. Your work requires frequent travel, mainly to various ports in India, and with client vessels located overseas. Services are expected to maintain flexible working hours in response to demand.
Other Tasks And Responsibilities
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical or mechanical equipment
- Supervise and perform the refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
- Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager to support all activities
- To support Service overall goals and budgets
- Preparing detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
- Ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards
Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent, APAC and Middle East located in Dubai. The position will be based in Mumbai, but covers the entire India region & overseas.
What You'll Need To Succeed
You have a background in the merchant, offshore, or maritime industry, with a primary focus on electrical or mechanical equipment. Knowledge and experience in basic hydraulics are a plus. We are looking for a communicative, technically skilled individual who is passionate about problem-solving and committed to customer satisfaction. You are goal-oriented and have a reliable working style. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment.Ideally you have
- Technical education at college in electrical or mechanical disciplines, or a similar relevant field
- Basic hydraulics knowledge and experience is beneficial
- Minimum 3-5 years of similar experience from the maritime industry
- Previous experience with ship and/or port cranes, winches and hydraulic equipment is a plus
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
