Job Summary:

L2 Server Support & Patching Engineer

The successful candidate will execute scheduled patch cycles, provide escalated technical support, and collaborate across teams to sustain a secure and resilient server ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain server availability, performance, and health across physical and virtual environments (Windows and Linux).
  
• Plan, schedule, and execute patching activities using tools such as

  WSUS

  ,

  SCCM/MECM

  , or

  ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus

  .
• Validate patch compatibility, perform testing in staging environments, and manage rollback procedures to minimize service disruptions.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated OS-related issues, including patch failures, system performance degradation, and security updates.
  
• Apply security patches, hotfixes, and firmware upgrades in accordance with organizational policies and compliance standards.
  
• Document patch deployment statuses, maintenance activities, and root cause analysis (RCA) outcomes.
  
• Collaborate with application, database, and network teams during planned maintenance windows to ensure smooth multi-platform operations.
  
• Support vulnerability management and remediation efforts to meet audit and security requirements.
  
• Maintain backup routines and actively participate in disaster recovery drills and planning.
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with

  Windows Server

  and

  Linux/UNIX

  administration.
• Proficiency with patch management and deployment tools such as

  SCCM

  ,

  WSUS

  ,

  Ivanti

  , or

  ManageEngine

  .
• Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), and domain-integrated environments.
  
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms like

  VMware

  and

  Hyper-V

  .
• Scripting skills in

  PowerShell

  and

  Bash

  to automate routine tasks and perform health checks.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve server and OS-level performance and stability issues.
  
• Excellent documentation practices and ability to communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders.
  
• 24 years of experience in server administration and patching roles within enterprise environments.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as

  Microsoft Certified: Windows Server

  ,

  RHCSA/RHCE

  , or equivalent.
• Experience working in regulated industries requiring strict compliance and audit readiness.
  
• Knowledge of ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks.
