The Opportunity We are seeking a highly-skilled, experienced Engineering Manager to join our expanding Engineering team. You will be a part of the Applications team, primarily responsible for establishing the strategic technical direction, leading customer focus products and actively driving the execution of the strategy across many Dataorb s product areas taking care of the assignments and leading and managing the team related to transforming the designs into code. You should have a sense of design to point out the design gaps and give your valuable feedback to the design team. You will contribute to establish the best practices, follow them and motivate others as well to do the same. Core Responsibilities Take complete ownership of delivery: Plan, track, and ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality software releases. Plan sprints, allocate resources effectively, and manage team capacity to align with business priorities. Act as a bridge between Product Owners, Stakeholders, and the Engineering team: Engage regularly with the Product Owner to understand priorities, clarify requirements, and translate them into actionable technical tasks. Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and blockers. Drive continuous improvement in team processes, engineering standards, and best practices. Mentor and coach team members, fostering growth in both technical and soft skills. Lead performance reviews, goal-setting, and career development for engineers. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and collaboration within the team. Provide technical leadership: Guide the team on architecture, scalability, and performance optimization for Python-based backend services. Review designs, code, and implementation for best practices, performance, and maintainability. Contribute to PoCs, prototypes, and critical production features where needed. Ensure code quality: Drive clean code principles, testing strategies, and observability standards. Guide the team in solving complex engineering problems: database scaling, API performance, connection pooling, concurrency, and throughput. Stay current with the latest Python trends and advocate for modern tools, frameworks, and practices. Required Qualifications 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on Python backend development 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role Strong team management skills: mentoring, delivery ownership, planning, stakeholder communication Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, performant, and production-grade systems Solid understanding of cloud architectures (AWS preferred), microservices, and SaaS platforms Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and technical design skills Passion for growing engineers, fostering a learning culture, and driving technical excellence. Desired Experience Background in working on SaaS products Experience with AI/ML products Exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS) Familiarity with cost optimization and security best practices in AWS Experience in start-up or SaaS product environments Understanding of data pipelines and batch processing in large-scale systems Experience in cost optimization and security best practices in cloud environments Educational Requirements Bachelors Or Master s degree in one of the following fields: Bachelor of Computer Science Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) Masters of Computer Science Master of Engineering (Information Technology) OR Equivalent professional experience in Backend Engineer (typically 5+ additional years of hands-on experience beyond the base requirement) Technical Toolkit Expert-level Python 3.12+ (or latest stable release) Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), functional programming, and Python best practices (PEP8, type hints, async/await). Microservices architecture: REST APIs, gRPC, API Gateway PostgreSQL, MongoDB 7+: schema design, query optimization, data modeling Cloud-native development with AWS: Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3 Scalability and performance engineering: connection pooling, caching strategies, async frameworks (FastAPI, aiohttp). Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes (1.29+) for deployment and orchestration. Testing best practices: pytest, unittest, mocking, integration testing. Exposure to MLOps and ML model integration is a plus: SageMaker, MLflow, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
