Senior Tekla Steel Detailer / Modeler

Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Tekla Structures Specialist to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for creating highly accurate 3D BIM models for structural steel projects (PEB, Industrial, and Institutional). Your job is to translate design drawings into precise Fabrication (Shop) Drawings and Erection Drawings that the factory and site team can use blindly without errors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 3D Modeling & Detailing:

• Create full-scale 3D structural models using

  Tekla Structures

  (Columns, Rafters, Trusses, Purlins, and Bracing).

• Connection Detailing:

  Design and model complex steel connections (Moment connections, Shear connections, Base plates) ensuring they are structurally sound and

  constructible

  (i.e., there is enough space for a worker to tighten the bolts).

2. Output Generation (The "Deliverables"):

• Generate

  Shop Drawings

  (Single Part and Assembly drawings) for the fabrication workshop.
• Create

  Erection Drawings

  (GA Drawings) with clear marking plans for the site team.
• Extract

  NC Files

  (DSTV) for CNC cutting and drilling machines.
• Generate accurate

  Bill of Materials (BOM)

  , Bolt Lists, and Weight Reports for procurement.

3. Coordination:

• Collaborate with the MEP team to ensure steel members do not clash with HVAC ducts or Fire pipes (especially in warehouse/auditorium ceilings).
• Verify the model against the Structural Engineer’s analysis (STAAD/ETABS) reports.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience:

• 4–8 Years

  of hands-on experience in Steel Detailing using Tekla Structures.
• Strong experience in

  PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings)

  and Hot-Rolled Steel structures.

Technical Skills:

• Software:

  Expert mastery of Tekla Structures (Editing attributes, creating templates, custom components).

• Standards:

  Deep knowledge of steel codes (e.g.,

  IS 800:2007

  for India or AISC/BS standards depending on client).

• Fabrication Knowledge:

  Must understand welding symbols, bolt grades (8.8, 10.9), and galvanizing requirements.

Soft Skills:

• Ability to spot "impossible" designs (e.g., a beam that cannot be lifted into place by a crane) and flag them early.

• Site:

  Erection (GA) Drawings, Anchor Bolt Plans, Shipping Lists.
