Senior Technician electric Motor

Role Summary:
The senior technician is responsible for assembly, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of electric motors, ensuring adherence to quality, safety and delivery requirements, and providing guidance to junior technicians on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble motors (stator, rotor, shaft, bearings, housings, terminal box etc.) as per drawings, SOPs and work instructions.
• Carry out winding, impregnation, rotor balancing and final assembly using appropriate tools, fixtures and gauges.
• Perform routine and type tests (IR, HV, noload, load test, vibration, noise, temperature rise as applicable) and record results in test reports.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults in motors during inprocess inspection and final testing.
• Ensure proper usage of assembly and test equipment (test benches, winding machines, ovens, balancing machines, cranes, hand tools).
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs and process sheets, and provide feedback to engineers for improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and use of PPE on the shop floor and in the test area.
• Maintain 5S, housekeeping and basic TPM activities in own work area and common facilities.
• Train, guide and supervise junior technicians and helpers in correct assembly, testing and safety practices.
• Support root cause analysis for inhouse rejections and customer complaints and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Update production records, test reports and checklists accurately in logbooks or ERP/CMMS as applicable.
• Coordinate with quality and engineering teams to meet daily production targets and resolve technical issues.
