Job Title Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
As a Senior Software Engineer, you apply deep experience and technical know-how in the Software Engineering domain to:
Design, build and maintain multiple complex software application technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems Develop innovative software that maintains data/network security management, and leverage set processes to reduce the time between commission and production Authentically engage with and influence a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra s time, cost and quality standards Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define best practice corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes (e.g. productivity, customer experience and/or profitability) Lead initiatives or components of initiatives in line with the strategic direction of your team/mission, that have a significant degree of impact to the function or cross-functionally Take ownership of your own actions and decisions to drive positive outcomes within your team/mission, and provide guidance to more junior engineers in order to support their development and contribution to team/mission outcomes. About You Skills required to be successful in this role are as follows: Experience required: Development experience of 6+ years with a focus on React based frontend web application development & NodeJS based microservices development. Solution architect experience of 2+ years on AWS cloud platform applications. Should have 9+ years of overall experience. Strong skills: This is a hands-on development role which includes design, estimate, develop, and deploy cloud-based applications using AWS services and a full stack development approach. Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs using serverless or container-based architectures, leveraging AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS ECS Fargate, Load Balancers etc. Create responsive and user-friendly web interfaces using modern frontend frameworks such as React JS In-depth knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, including ES6+ features. Experience with implementation of Dockers & Kubernetes based solutions. Experience working with databases such as AWS Aurora DB, Postgres. Apply expertise in Authentication & Authorization protocols (e.g., JWT, OAuth), including certificate handling and usage to ensure robust application security. Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git, Gitlab, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, and AWS Code Deploy for automated testing, building, and deployment processes. Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices, including infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation. Demonstrate excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Stay updated with new technologies and be eager to learn and incorporate them into projects. Experience with Application monitoring tools such as New Relic and Splunk Desirable Skills: Exposure to Enterprise applications development Excellent understanding of web performance optimization techniques and best practices Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment. Should be able to work independently without any supervision in agile environment. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, reviewing their code and offering technical expertise. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. Experience in Python, Go & shell scripting. Take ownership of your actions and decisions to drive positive outcomes within your team. Conduct POCs & explore for different tools and frameworks as per need of the project. AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate are a plus. Job Description
