Senior Scientist

Role & responsibilities

• Lead and execute research projects focused on the development of APIs and intermediates
• Design and optimize synthetic routes for target molecules, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness
• Conduct literature surveys, reaction feasibility studies, and risk assessments, budget, ROS finalisation
• Perform multistep synthesis, purification, and characterization using analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, UV, IR, etc.)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA/QC, Regulatory Affairs, and production for tech transfer and scale-up
• Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare technical reports and presentations
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all lab activities
• Mentor other team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Experience in handling complex molecules and challenging reactions
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within timelines.

Preferred candidate profile

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry / synthesis, or related field
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in R&D labs focused on APIs and intermediates
• Strong command of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms
• Experience in process optimization, impurity profiling, and analytical interpretation
• Familiarity with GMP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory documentation
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
