Job Description

Job Offer Description We are inviting applications for a Research Scientist - Energy Harvesting position. The position will be based in Pune, India , embedded within our Research and Development Department. The role is primarily lab-based full-time position. This position contributes to a strategic R&D initiative focused on developing energy-autonomous sensor systems for industrial environments , particularly in the manufacturing and process industries. The goal is to design, simulate, prototype, and validate multi-source energy harvesting modules that can harness RF energy, optical energy, and vibration energy to sustainably power smart sensors used in harsh industrial conditions. These modules will serve as enablers for next-generation IoT and condition-monitoring applications. Your Role Core responsibilities will include: Design, modelling, and prototyping of energy harvesting systems including RF, optical, and vibrational modules. Development of power conditioning and energy management circuits , including storage solutions (e. g. supercapacitors, thin-film batteries). Integration of sensors and wireless communication modules (e. g. BLE, Zigbee, LoRaWAN) with the energy harvesting platform. Analytical modelling and theoretical validation of energy harvesting principles supported by empirical data. Documentation of design choices, lab procedures, and results for internal reports, patents, or scientific publications . Collaboration across interdisciplinary teams in hardware, embedded systems, and mechanical design to realize end-to-end solutions. Contributing to industry-aligned proof-of-concepts and field-deployable prototypes for pilot demonstrations. Requirements To succeed in this role, the candidate must have: A Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Applied Physics, or a related field . A Ph. D. or Post-Doctoral experience in a relevant area is highly desirable. Strong analytical and theoretical foundations in electromagnetic theory, vibration physics, and optical systems. Proven expertise in energy harvesting techniques and low-power electronics design. Hands-on experience with prototype development, lab testing, and validation in an industrial or academic R&D setting. Industrial experience is essential candidates must demonstrate the ability to balance academic rigor with practical constraints and timelines. Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL or equivalent CAD/simulation platforms . Excellent logical reasoning, problem-solving , and scientific communication skills (verbal and written). A collaborative mindset , able to work effectively within matrixed project teams and cross-disciplinary environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with sensor systems, industrial IoT platforms , or embedded energy systems . Publications or patents in the field of energy harvesting, low-power systems, or smart sensors. Familiarity with reliability testing , environmental compliance, or robustness validation for industrial components. Inspirational Work Environment You will be part of a dynamic research environment that bridges the gap between fundamental science and industry-grade innovation
