Grade Level (for internal use): 10 S&P Global Corporate About the Role : Senior Network Engineer The Team : Global Extranet Services is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our innovative and dynamic team, where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cutting-edge network and security infrastructure that supports Extranet for external clients, partners and venders. Responsibilities and Impact : Design and implement global Extranet, Network and Security infrastructure solutions across data centre, cloud, and campus environments. Design, implement, and maintain extranet connectivity solutions for secure business-to-business communication. Configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including VPNs, firewalls, routers, and cloud-based network services. Monitor extranet performance and ensure high availability and reliability Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors as needed Manage cloud networking solutions such as AWS Direct Connect, Alkira CXP, or other SD-WAN services Optimize hybrid network architectures for secure and scalable extranet connectivity Work with external clients, service providers, and third-party vendors to establish and maintain extranet connectivity. Ensure timely resolution of connectivity issues and service-level agreement (SLA) adherence Develop and lead initiatives to evaluate the applicability and fit of new technologies and approaches, as well as defining the standards and best-practices for their use within S&P Global. Serve as a subject matter expert for S&P Global's Extranet and security infrastructure, offering third-line support to address complex issues. Develop and implement automated solutions to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and ensure seamless adaptability to evolving technological landscapes. What Were Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications : Networking Protocols & Routing: Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VRF. Hands-on experience with IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, NAT, and QoS. Deep understanding of layer 2 & layer 3 protocols (STP, VLANs, ARP). Extranet & VPN Technologies: Expertise in IPSec, SSL VPN, GRE, DMVPN, and L2TP tunnels. Experience with partner/vendor extranet connectivity setup and troubleshooting. Understanding of network segmentation and Zero Trust architecture. Security & Firewalls: Hands-on experience with firewalls (FortiGate, Palo Alto, etc..). Knowledge of security policies, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and network hardening. Familiarity with SSL/TLS encryption, PKI, and certificate management. Cloud & Hybrid Networking: Experience with AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, and Google Cloud Interconnect. Knowledge of VPC peering, Transit Gateway, and SD-WAN solutions. Proficiency in cloud-native networking and automation. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Hands-on experience with packet analysis tools (Wireshark, TCPdump). Proficiency in network monitoring tools (FortiMonitor, Forward Network, Selector.AI, Live Action). Strong troubleshooting skills for latency, routing loops, and asymmetric traffic issues. Automation & Scripting: Familiarity with Python, Ansible, or Terraform for network automation. Experience with APIs for network device configuration and monitoring. 3 to 6 years experience designing and implementing multi-vendor network solutions across hybrid multi-cloud environments. Experience working with a broad range of network and security technologies e.g. load balancers, firewalls, WAF, proxies, etc. Qualified Specialist in one or more of the following: Routing & Switching, Security, Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP). Soft skills : Delivery focused with an attention to detail. Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Additional Preferred Qualifications : Network automation experience is preferred especially experience designing, developing, and deploying, Python- based solutions following software development best practices.
