As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at PitchBook, you will be responsible for utilizing machine learning, statistical modeling, and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to gather a large volume of data for the PitchBook Platform. Your primary focus will be on deriving insights for the capital markets. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior team members, shaping the long-term direction of the team, and contributing to a positive work culture. Key Responsibilities: - Apply NLP and Machine Learning techniques to analyze and extract features from unstructured data, identify relevant features, and employ suitable algorithms for data insight generation. - Extract insights from textual data, such as articles and conversations, to recognize unique signals of company performance that aid in predicting market trends. - Collaborate effectively with Data Scientists, Product, and Engineering teams to automate processes for handling large-scale data, enhance data management, and facilitate analysis. - Stay updated on industry trends in Data Science and Machine Learning, actively participate in the development of best practices, and contribute to thought leadership. - Support the company's vision by embodying its values and fostering a positive work culture. - Engage in company initiatives and projects to drive overall success. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field. - Over 5 years of experience applying machine learning, statistical modeling, and NLP in a production environment. - Demonstrated proficiency in natural language processing. - Extensive experience with Python and object-oriented programming frameworks. - Proficiency in using SQL for data extraction. - Strong communication and data presentation skills. - Excellent problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work independently, devise solutions to complex problems, and assist others. - Proficiency in communicating complex analyses clearly, precisely, and in an actionable manner. - Experience collaborating closely with software development teams is advantageous. - Knowledge in financial services, investment, banking, VC, and/or PE is preferred but not mandatory.
