Senior Java API Developer

As a Senior Java API Developer at Barclays, your role involves supporting the successful delivery of location strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality, and governance standards. You will spearhead the evolution of the digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence to ensure unparalleled customer experiences. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing and implementing scalable, distributed, object-oriented, and resilient systems using Java. - Utilizing REST Standards, design patterns, and Http concepts for developing REST APIs using Spring Data REST and Sprint BOOT Framework. - Delivering internally and externally-facing APIs with an API management platform such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Akana. - Having experience/exposure to SQL with advanced skills. - Working with a CI/DevOps pipeline with git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, and conducting performance tests using Jmeter/JProfiler. - Demonstrating self-motivation with the ability to overcome obstacles and self-teach new concepts. - Holding a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field. Your purpose in this role is to design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. Your key accountabilities will include: - Developing and delivering high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. - Collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define software requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. - Promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing through participation in code reviews and technical communities. - Adhering to secure coding practices and implementing effective unit testing to ensure code scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
