Senior Engineer Wiring Harness Engineering

Role Summary

The role is responsible for end-to-end Product Engineering for Electrical Wiring Harness assemblies used in Aerospace & Defence applications. This includes responding to customer RFQs, feasibility evaluation, cost and design optimization, engineering change management, value engineering and technical customer support in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse customer RFQs and provide engineering responses in coordination with BD, SCM and Finance.
  
• Conduct technical feasibility studies for new and existing harness products.
  
• Prepare BOMs, wiring schematics, technical documentation and design proposals.
  
• Work with cross-functional teams for cost estimation and manufacturability assessment.
  
• Lead Value Engineering and cost reduction initiatives without impacting product integrity.
  
• Support customer technical discussions, audits and design reviews.
  
• Manage engineering changes (ECN/ECR), obsolescence and configuration management.
  
• Coordinate with suppliers for component selection and alternate proposals.
  
• Drive product continuous improvement and design-to-cost initiatives.
  
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and quality requirements (AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
  
• Provide technical support during NPI, prototyping and FAI stages.
  
• Work with ERP (SAP) for BOM creation, routing and product lifecycle updates.
  

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of

  Electrical Wiring Harness

  , power & signal distribution systems
• Hands-on exposure to

  SolidWorks/CATIA/Creo

  for design interpretation
• Good understanding of harness components connectors, backshells, conduits, terminals
  
• Knowledge of

  manufacturing processes

  – crimping, soldering, assembly, testing
• Familiarity with aerospace standards –

  IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-STD, AS9100

• Experience in

  Value Engineering, BOM creation, design validation

• Knowledge of

  engineering documentation & change management

• Exposure to

  SAP or any ERP system
