About the Role As our Optics & Imaging Engineer, you'll own the design and calibration of our structured light and stereo vision setups, ensuring pixel-perfect depth, crisp contrast, and precise alignment in challenging factory conditions.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the intersection of optics, robotics, and machine vision.

Responsibilities

• Design Optical Setups: Design setups for stereo and structured light systems.
• Image Acquisition: Design and implement robust image acquisition pipelines with precise exposure, gain, and focus control.
• Hardware Selection: Select and configure lenses, filters, and lighting strategies.
• Calibration: Run calibration pipelines (intrinsic, extrinsic, multi-camera setups).
• Image Quality: Minimize distortion, glare, and noise in complex lighting environments.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with the AI team on data quality, sharpness, and depth precision.
• Field Testing: Support field testing and refinement of real-world optical rigs.

Requirements

• Experience: 2-3 years of experience with imaging systems, lenses, and camera calibration.
• Core Knowledge: Strong grasp of stereo geometry, structured light, and optical alignment.
• Signal Processing: Experience with image signal processing, including noise filtering, dynamic range handling, and lens shading correction.
• Localization: Proficiency in sub-pixel localization and 3D point cloud generation.
• Tools: Familiarity with tools like OpenCV, MATLAB, or calibration toolkits.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with 3D metrology, deflectometry, or photogrammetry.
• Knowledge of laser projection systems and fringe/light pattern techniques.
• Understanding of optical aberrations and lens selection tradeoffs.
• Experience working in industrial or robotics environments.
