Job Description

Microchip is seeking an experienced Technical Documentation Engineer to join its FPGA Technical Publications team. This team develops Technical Documentation, IP Documents, User Guides and other collaterals for FPGA Products used by customers to program Microchip FPGAs.
The role focuses on creating and maintaining high-quality documentation including user guides, reference manuals, and application notes that clearly explain complex workflows for Microchip SOC/FPGA products, including RTL designs, simulations, synthesis, timing analysis, high-speed protocols, and hardware validation. The individual will work closely with engineering teams to translate technical details into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for both novice and advanced users

About the Position

The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of Technical Publication areas, contribute to process innovations, adopt industry standard documentation practices and work in a fast-paced, agile, multiple-deadline environment.
 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and publish user-focused technical documentation for FPGA/SoC products.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
  • Apply documentation standards, style guides, and structured authoring practices (DITA, FrameMaker).
  • Create diagrams, workflows, and illustrations to enhance documentation clarity.
  • Manage deliverables and meet tight deadlines while continuously improving documentation processes.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
  • bachelors degree in English Literature, Technical Communication, Electronics Engineering
Required Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in EDA or semiconductor domain
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Experience in structured authoring, DITA workflows, and managing documentation deliverables.
  • Expertise in authoring tools (FrameMaker, MS Word) and graphic tools (MS Visio).
  • Experience with project collaboration platforms (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint).
  • Experience with different style guides
  • Hands-on experience with EDA/semiconductor tools for content creation
  • Experience in writing user guides and related documents for EDA or semiconductor companies
  • Degree in English literature or Electronics engineering
