Senior Engineer - Design

Key Responsibilities Senior Design Engineer

1. Product Design & Development

• Conceptualize, design, and develop 2D/3D models for mechanical & electromechanical components, sub-systems, and full vehicle assemblies.
• Translate product ideas, sketches, and engineering discussions into functional CAD models, ensure all designs meet functional, performance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up, and material selection based on engineering standards.

2. CAD Modelling & Engineering Documentation

• Create detailed part models, assembly models, and engineering drawings with proper GD&T.
• Maintain revision history, drawing standards, and engineering file control. Prepare design reports, technical notes, and engineering documentation for review and production

3. Simulation, Testing & Validation

• Run design simulations including stress, load, motion, and NVH analysis (internal or via CAE team) Review simulation outputs and integrate corrections for durability and performance
• Support prototype development, test planning, and engineering validation. Analyze test feedback and modify designs to meet performance targets

4. Manufacturing & Prototype Support

• Coordinate with manufacturing, tool room, and prototype teams for build feasibility. Ensure designs are DFM/DFA compliant (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly)
• Develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling concepts for production support. Review and approve vendor drawings and first-article samples

5. Supplier & Vendor Coordination

• Collaborate with suppliers for material selection, fabrication processes, cost evaluation, and technical clarifications
• Provide detailed engineering inputs for machining, casting, sheet metal, welding, and plastic components, Review supplier capability and ensure component quality meets specifications

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with R&D, testing, production, quality, and supply chain teams, Support purchasing team with technical specifications & cost benchmarking
• Participate in design reviews, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), and project review meetings

7. Change Management & Continuous Improvement

• Lead design improvements, optimization, and cost-reduction initiatives, Manage engineering change requests (ECR) and engineering change orders (ECO)
• Ensure compliance with organizational CAD standards and best practices

8. Technology & Innovation

• Stay updated with latest engineering tools, materials, and mobility technologies, Support development of innovative design solutions in line with industry trends
• Explore aerodynamics, ergonomics, safety, structural integrity, and product performance enhancements.
