Senior Engineer - Assembly & Dispatch

Role & responsibilities

Bogie Assembly Process Expertise--Deep knowledge of assembling railway bogie components, such as bolster, side frame, springs, brake beams, and dampers as per RDSO or OEM standards.

Deep Assembly knowledge of couplers and draft gears.

Reading Technical Drawings & BOM--Skilled in interpreting assembly drawings, tolerance charts, welding symbols, and bill of materials specific to railway bogies.

Fitment & Alignment Techniques-Ensures precise fitment of components like wheelsets, suspension elements, brake gear, and centre pivots, maintaining dimensional and functional accuracy.

Welding & Fastening Knowledge--Familiar with welding processes, torque specs, and critical fastener requirements for structural, Riveting and safety-critical joints in bogies.

Inspection & Quality Assurance--Conducts in-process and final inspection of bogie assembly using gauges, templates, and measuring tools; checks for compliance with quality standards of RDSO/QAP.

Hydraulic & Pneumatic System Integration--Understanding of air brake systems, damping elements, and suspension settings used in railway bogies.

Logistics & Dispatch Planning--Plans loading, packaging, and safe transportation of fully assembled bogies to customers or fitment locations.

Team Coordination & Safety Compliance--Leads a team of fitters, welders, and helpers, ensuring safe handling of heavy components and adherence to shop floor safety protocols.

Abilities--Mechanical Judgment & Alignment Precision--High accuracy in judging bogie geometry, clearances, and load-bearing alignment. Problem Solving Under Load Conditions--Quickly resolves issues like spring misalignment, weld defects, or fitment issues. Process Documentation & Compliance--Maintains traceability records, in-process checklists, and final assembly clearance reports as per railway standards. Leadership & Resource Management--Efficiently manages manpower, tools, and workstations to ensure on-time bogie assembly and dispatch. Customer & Audit Readiness--Prepares department for customer inspections, RDSO audits, and ensures compliance with dispatch protocols.
