Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Senior Electrical design Engineer Gas based Combined Cycle Power Project

Location: Vadodara

Reporting: Project Head (CPP)

This position will be responsible for a Design and Engineering work, planning and overseeing installation, Testing and Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance of all electrical power equipment, or systems related to Combined Cycle Power plant under general supervision.

Main duties:

To ensure issue of electrical engineering deliverables such as specifications, PRs, layout drawings, calculations, Bid evaluations and various Vendor drawing review as per Project schedule.

Expertise in Design of Extra High, Medium and Low Voltage power systems, BSDG, EDG, Transformers, Motors, Generators, Control and Protection, Switchgears/MCCs, GIS Switchyard of 330KV and above, Manage technical discussions with third parties such as Client, Consultants, suppliers, sub-contractors, OEMs etc.

• Supporting all the phases of project cycle from Concept, Design and engineering till Operation of complete Combined Cycle Power plant where little evaluation or ingenuity is normally required.
• Familiar with International codes, Standards and recommended practices for design and selection of Electrical equipment
• General knowledge of Main plant equipment such as GTG, STG, HRSG, Exhaust Gas Bypass System, etc. and other related interconnected discipline systems.
• Performing detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
• Using established and well-defined engineering procedures.
• Gathering and correlating basic engineering data.
• Expert in Design GIS 330KV one and half breaker scheme and protection systems.
• Preparation of electrical drawings and specifications for new IPP project.
• Coordinate with clients, contractor and consultants to determine project requirements, schedules and deliverables.
• Design engineering responsibility of sizing power transformer, MV/LV switchgears, DC/UPS system, batteries, GCB, MV/LV cables, plant Lighting and earthing calculations, Lightning system, EDG, IPBD etc.
• Routing of IPBD, 330 kV Gas insulated busducts (GIB)
• Preparation of Key SLD, MV/LV switchgear SLDs, DC/UPS SLDs, Block logic and interlocking diagrams, etc.
• Expert in preparation of cable schedule, cable routing, cable sizing, ACDB boards, BOQ of power and control cables, BOQ of cable trays, plant Lighting layouts, earthing layouts & Lightning protection layouts.
• Specify and set the standards for HSE requirements in the Electrical system of CCPP
• Familiar with interlocks and protection - wiring and instrument signals and drawings for both simple and combined cycle.
• Review of BOP mechanical packages such as DM plant, ETP, Air compressor, ACW/CCW pumps, Fire water system, Cooling Tower, EOT cranes, HVAC, Motor operated valves, Boiler feed pumps, CEP, etc.
• Familiarity with Gas turbine black start, Emergency shut down, etc.
• Optimization of sizing/ BOQs of Cable, cable tray, earthing & lighting, optimization of plant equipment sizing such as MV/LV switchgear, Service transformers, etc.
• Familiar with Transformer protection, Generator protection, Switchgear protection schemes and overall Trip matrix concept.
• Conceptual design of Cable tray, earthing, lightning protection and illumination layouts

Requirement:

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10-15 years experience in the power plant projects with specific experience with combined cycle gas-based power projects
• 10+ years in Design of Electrical system power plants.
• Previous experience working for the Owner, Consultant or EPC contractor on large CCGT projects is essential minimum >1000MW.
• Readiness to travel
• Readiness to be at site based in Kwale, Delta State, Nigeria at least 50% time
• Previous international experience is required.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks.
• Effective oral and written communications and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the design team in the resolution of project related issues.
• Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment
