Senior Cosmetic Chemist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cosmetic Chemist with at least 5 years of experience in formulation development, product innovation, and ingredient research within the cosmetic and personal care industry. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing innovative skincare, haircare, and personal care formulations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing product performance.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation Development:

• Develop and optimize skincare, haircare, and personal care formulations from concept to commercialization.
• Improve existing formulations for stability, efficacy, and sensory attributes.
• Conduct feasibility studies on new raw materials and technologies.

Product Testing & Stability Studies:

• Conduct stability, compatibility, and microbiological testing of formulations.
• Perform viscosity, pH, and sensory analysis to ensure product integrity.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and ensure consistency in production scale-up.
• Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure formulations comply with global cosmetic regulations (EU, FDA, BIS, etc.).
• Maintain detailed documentation for formulations, specifications, and safety data.
• Work closely with regulatory teams to secure necessary approvals.

Collaboration & Innovation:

• Work cross-functionally with marketing, R&D, and production teams to align formulation development with brand objectives.
• Research new ingredients, delivery systems, and emerging industry trends.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers for sourcing and formulation improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in cosmetic formulation and R&D.
• Strong understanding of emulsions, surfactants, polymers, active ingredients, and sensory enhancers.
• Experience with clean beauty, natural ingredients, and sustainable formulations is a plus.
• Knowledge of cosmetic regulations and claims substantiation.
• Proficiency in using analytical instruments (pH meter, viscometer, rheometer, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
