Role & responsibilities

Senior Associate / Specialist, Retirement Services (Money-In & Money-Out)

Location: Bangalore

Experience: 25 years in Retirement Services / Defined Contribution Operations

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Retirement Services professional with hands-on expertise in either Money-In, Money-Out, and Corrections across multiple retirement plan types. The role requires strong transaction accuracy, understanding of IRS regulations, and the ability to process complex participant and beneficiary requests.

Key Responsibilities

Money-In Processing

  • Process contributions and transfers including rollovers, contract exchanges, force-outs, TOA, internal transfers.
  • Handle loan payments, payoffs, rejects, and review/issue Letters of Acceptance.
  • Manage beneficiary deposits, CIP checks, POA validations, journaling, special plan, and unallocated account work.

Money-Out Processing

  • Process participant/beneficiary distribution requests: cash withdrawals, hardships, disaster relief, in-plan, rollovers out, QDRO, force-outs, RMDs, systematic withdrawals, and TOA.
  • Process loans: new loans, loan offsets, payments, and payoffs.
  • Perform stop payments, reissues, corrective distributions, aged check processing, and annuitization steps.

Corrections & Tax Reporting

  • Apply tax rules for pre-tax, Roth, and after-tax sources.
  • Correct and reissue 1099-R forms when required.
  • Apply vesting, surrender charge, penalty, and eligibility rules.
  • Execute transaction blocks, stop requests, and remediation steps.

Required Domain Knowledge

  • Understanding of retirement markets: 401(k), 403(b), 457, IRA, LOSAP, governmental/top-hat plans.
  • Strong knowledge of taxability, penalties, RMD rules, hardships, QDRO, and ERISA guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret plan provisions and apply IRS regulations accurately.

Systems Experience

Hands-on experience with retirement platforms and workflow tools

Skills & Competencies

  • High accuracy & attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and exception-handling abilities
  • Comfort working with financial documents & regulatory guidelines
  • Excellent written & verbal communication
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Background

  • 3+ years in Defined Contribution / Retirement Services operations
  • Experience with participant transactions, distributions, rollovers, and tax correction work
  • Exposure to BPO, recordkeeping, brokerage, or plan administration environments
