ABOUT THE JOB

The Scrum Master is a creative, servant leader who enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver in adherence to Lean Agile practices.

The Scrum Master helps foster the culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship that is the hallmark of effective Agile teams.

A natural leader with a flexible and creative mind, excellent communication, and influential skills, who embraces continuous improvement and empowers change and brings the team to a level of self-empowerment and adaptability to change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.
• Communicate with client and key stakeholders to help steer project in expected direction.
• Act as the representative in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS) meeting, and they pass information from that meeting back to the team.
• Provide guidance to assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables by helping the team define the Definition of Done (DoD) and achieving it.
• Help the team embrace the core values, adopt, apply, and implement the lean agile practices and scalability.
• Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and help the team understand how to estimate features.
• Address impediments and blocking issues so the team can remain focused on achieving their objectives.
• Communicate with management and other stakeholders and help protect the team from uncontrolled scope creep.
• Help the team improve and take responsibility for their actions; facilitate the team retrospective.
• Ensure that the team works in a collaborative and transparent manner, using the tools that empower those practices.
• Facilitate all team meetings, such as the daily stand-ups, iteration planning, iteration review, and retrospectives.
• Responsible for ensuring that the project team captures knowledge of the engagement (Lessons Learned) for future use on projects to increase quality and value of future engagements.
• Suggest and implement improvements to practices that allow to more effectively deliver client projects using the methodology.
• Animate team workshops so that everyone get actively involved and get value out of it
• Ensure the team has appropriate tools to help with day-to-day activities
• Measure and report on scrum team accomplishments and performance in sprint reviews by means of tracking various metrics such as Sprint Reviews, Velocity Charts, Burn Down charts, Frequency Diagrams, Defects., etc.
• Advocate for Scrum teams with regards to recommended actions from retrospectives.
• Identify opportunities for velocity improvements and collaborate with project stakeholders in the implementation of velocity improvement initiatives.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information sciences or another related field
• Scrum Master Certification, required
• Good knowledge and 5+ years of working experience as a Scrum Master
• Good computer skills (Confluence, JIRA, MS Teams, SharePoint, MS Project / Scheduler or related
• Confluence / SharePoint pages editing
• Good MS Excel Spreadsheets skills
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
• Experience working with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
• Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
• Experience with office collaboration tools (Teams, Confluence, MS-Office (Excel), etc.)
