Job Description

The opportunity: As a Supplier Sustainability Specialist at Hitachi Energy HVDC, you will play a crucial role in driving sustainability initiatives to achieve the company's goal of being #1 in sustainability. Working closely with the global team of Supplier Quality and Sustainability Engineers, you will lead efforts to assess and develop suppliers, particularly focusing on providing specialist support for complex suppliers. Your responsibilities will include direct communication with suppliers to ensure understanding of sustainability requirements and timely delivery of sustainability data such as material compliance. This role will involve interfacing with various functions across the organization, from R&D to Service, and managing relationships with suppliers of diverse equipment, ranging from circuit boards to large power transformers. How you'll make an impact: - You will serve as the subject matter expert in supplier sustainability. - Provide guidance to Supplier Quality and Sustainability Engineers on supplier assessment methodologies. - Offer specialized support in evaluating complex suppliers and contractors. - Collect and maintain sustainability data and certificates from suppliers and contractors. - Coordinate assessment activities with third-party sustainability assessment providers and assess outcomes. - Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. - Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity by taking ownership of actions and fostering a culture of care and responsibility towards colleagues and the business. Your background: - Possess a BE in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical and a Masters in Sustainability Management or equivalent experience. - Have 8 to 10 years of experience in sustainability within a multinational company, preferably in the energy sector. - Demonstrate experience working in a global corporate environment and interacting with diverse stakeholders worldwide. - Proficient in methodologies such as Kaizen, 4Q, DMAIC, Gemba, Root-Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Analysis, FMEA, and MS Office. - Strong organizational skills with a focus on structured communication. - Ability to thrive in cross-functional and global team settings. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
