Role & responsibilities

Job Summary

An SAP PP-DS Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting the SAP Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling (PP-DS) module as part of SAP S/4HANA or APO (Advanced Planning & Optimization). This role ensures optimized production planning, detailed scheduling, and seamless integration with other SAP modules such as PP, MM, SD, and QM.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation & Configuration

• Configure SAP PP-DS settings in SAP S/4HANA or APO based on business requirements.
  
• Design and implement planning strategies, heuristics, and scheduling parameters.
  
• Define planning horizons, resource capacities, constraints, and rule sets.
  
• Set up Master Data relevant to PP-DS (Work Centers, Resources, Routings, BOMs).
  

Detailed Scheduling & Optimization

• Perform detailed scheduling using PP-DS tools (FSCM, ATP, APO).
  
• Optimize production plans to meet delivery schedules and resource constraints.
  
• Use advanced scheduling tools (e.g., GANTT planning board, PEG ATP, SNP/DP integration).
  

Integration

• Ensure seamless integration with:
  
• SAP PP (Production Planning)
  
• SAP MM (Materials Management)
  
• SAP SD (Sales & Distribution)
  
• SAP QM (Quality Management)
  
• SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) / TM
  
• Manage data flows between modules and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  

Support & Enhancements

• Provide Level-2 & Level-3 support for incidents and issues related to PP-DS.
  
• Analyze performance bottlenecks and propose process improvements.
  
• Prepare functional specifications (FS) for enhancements and custom development.
  
• Coordinate with ABAP/technical teams for reports, forms, and interfaces.
  

Required Skills & Competencies

Functional Skills

Strong understanding of SAP PP & PP-DS processes
Experience with production planning, capacity planning, and scheduling Knowledge of master data objects: Materials, Routings, BOM, Work Centers Familiar with integration points with MM, SD, QM, EWM/TM

Technical Skills

Good grasp of SAP configuration, customizing, and solution design
Familiar with Fiori/UI5 planning apps and analytical tools Ability to write functional specs & interact with technical teams Basic knowledge of SAP HANA database and live data modeling
