A sales manager leads a company's sales team to drive revenue by developing sales strategies, setting goals, and analyzing performance data. They are responsible for hiring, training, and mentoring their team members, assigning sales territories, and ensuring quotas are met. This role involves both strategic planning and hands-on guidance to motivate the team and achieve business objectives.  Key responsibilities  Directing and overseeing a sales team, which includes recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating sales representatives.   Developing and implementing sales strategies, setting performance targets and quotas, and assigning sales territories.   Tracking and analyzing sales data to identify trends, forecast future sales, and make informed decisions.   Coaching and mentoring sales representatives to improve their skills and ensure they can independently close deals.   Working with other departments, like marketing, to ensure sales initiatives are aligned with overall business goals.  the sales manager is responsible for ensuring the team meets or exceeds revenue goals, which directly impacts the company's profitability.   They guide the team in generating new leads and building strong client relationships.   They may also have a hand in shaping the company's future by providing insights from the market and guiding future sales initiatives.
