Sales Development Engineer

The Sales Development Engineer position at Cognex offers a unique opportunity that goes beyond the traditional Sales Development role. As an SDE at Cognex, you will be exposed to various aspects of the business, including Product Marketing, Engineering, Technical Support, and Outside Sales. Working in a cross-functional capacity, you will collaborate with the Marketing team on strategy and lead generation campaigns, shadow experienced sales engineers during sales territory visits, and contribute to funnel generation projects across different business units. **Essential Functions:** - Qualify inbound Marketing and Sales leads using established sales strategies to create a sales funnel. - Initiate and foster conversations with strategic targets to assist in converting marketing leads into new accounts, collaborating with Field Sales Engineers. - Develop a strong technical understanding of the diverse Cognex product portfolio through comprehensive hands-on training. - Research and reach out to key target accounts based on gathered information. - Prioritize and progress sales opportunities in coordination with Sales team members/leaders. - Establish and maintain cross-departmental relationships and communication channels. - Manage project-creation activities within the CRM database. - Provide feedback to enhance Marketing and Sales effectiveness and efficiency initiatives. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** - Demonstrate a results-oriented, proactive approach to achieve goals efficiently. - Possess a background in engineering or manufacturing with a keen eye for detail. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in-person and over the phone, are essential. - Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). - Strong listening, note-taking, and debriefing skills are necessary. **Minimum education and work experience:** - A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a Technical or Engineering track (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical). - Customer-facing experience within a highly-technical hardware or software engineering and manufacturing company is advantageous. - Demonstrated ability to comprehend business objectives and achieve set goals is a prerequisite.,
