Job Description

Job Summary

Ruby on Rails Architect

Key Responsibilities

Define and drive overall application
architecture, technology roadmap, and best practices
for large-scale ROR applications.
Design
microservices-based, event-driven, and distributed system architectures
.
Make key decisions regarding
scalability, performance, reliability, and security
.
Provide technical leadership across development teams, ensuring architectural alignment.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate
frameworks, tools, design patterns, and performance optimization approaches
.
Lead
code reviews, PoCs, refactoring
, and modernization initiatives.
Drive development of
high-availability RESTful APIs
with best security practices (OAuth/JWT/OWASP compliance).
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into long-term architectural solutions.
Establish
CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation
, and cloud deployment frameworks.
Mentor and guide tech leads and developers to improve overall engineering maturity.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

10+ years of hands-on experience in
Ruby & Ruby on Rails
development.
Deep knowledge of
MVC patterns, OOP, SOLID principles, DDD, and design patterns
.
Proven experience designing applications using
microservices architecture
.
Strong understanding of
PostgreSQL / MySQL
, database sharding, indexing, replication, and performance tuning.
Expertise with
Redis, Sidekiq / background jobs, caching strategies, event queues
.
Strong hands-on experience with
RSpec / Minitest
, TDD/BDD practices.
Proficiency in
service integrations, GraphQL/REST APIs
, and API gateways.
Expertise with
Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps
, and cloud-native delivery.
In-depth knowledge of
AWS / Azure / GCP
infrastructure (at least one mandatory).
Ability to diagnose memory leaks, query bottlenecks, and production performance issues.

Preferred / Good to Have

Experience with
Elasticsearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ
.
Knowledge of
CQRS, event sourcing, Hexagonal architecture
.
Strong understanding of
Zero-downtime deployments, container security, and system observability
(Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
Exposure to
frontend frameworks
(React / Angular / Vue) for end-to-end system understanding.

Soft Skills

Strong architectural vision combined with practical hands-on capability.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to influence and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong presentation, documentation, and leadership capabilities.

Education

Bachelors / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
