As a Principal Enterprise Architect , you will partner across the digital technology organization with product management, engineering, Data & AI/ML, infrastructure, security and platform teams. You will have the opportunity to spearhead the evolution of our architecture and engineering practices, driving the adoption of modern design patterns and standards. The success of this effort will depend on your ability to shape and influence outcomes through advocacy and empowering teams to deliver secure, scalable, reusable architectures that fuel our growth.
We are also looking for a leader who can investigate and guide the adoption of new and evolving AI technologies across business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain our enterprise architecture strategy aligned with business goals and product roadmaps, focusing on application modernization & simplification, security and scalability, cost optimization, APIs, and the seamless adoption of AI in those business solutions.
- Inform portfolio planning decisions to highlight software modernization and rationalization concerns and ensure that we reduce technical debt over time.
- Communication and advocacy to ensure business and technology teams understand the strategy and can directly connect it to the long-term business value.
- Develop enterprise-wide patterns and standard and best practices to guide the development of microservices, event-driven systems, API-first designs, and AI-enabled platforms to create connected, secure, and scalable technology ecosystems.
- Ensure that system design aligns with the principles of simplicity, scalability, security, and resilience and facilitate alignment on ownership, responsibilities, and interactions between domains.
- Guide the evaluation of software selection options, balancing technical fit, total operating cost, risk, and maintainability to optimize technology decisions.
- Embed privacy and security best practices in solution design, ensuring compliance with regulations and incorporating encryption, authentication and threat modeling standards in those
- Stay current on the latest AI trends, tools, and frameworks so you can evaluate the feasibility / applicability of AI solutions to business problems and lead POCs.
- Lead by example through consistent hands-on engagement and advocacy to promote a culture of learning and experimentation within the technology organization.
- Advocate for change. Engage tech and business teams to explain technical concepts clearly and persuasively , helping to link strategy to the underlying value proposition and elevate our architectural maturity.
Skills & Experience
- Proven Experience: 15+ years in software engineering, with at least 3+ years at a Principal Architect or equivalent level and a strong track record in a senior architecture role.
- Operating Model Transformation: Experience supporting the shift to a product- and platform-based operating models, with an understanding of how architecture supports organizational agility.
- Experience with domain modeling and using domain-driven approaches to align business and technology.
- Expertise in designing API-led, modular, and composable cloud-native architectures leveraging microservice and event-streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with modern AI technologies, data platforms, and how to apply them pragmatically in enterprise settings.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP), event-driven design, API management, and other modern integration patterns.
- Proven track record driving modernization efforts that reduced costs, delivered value and accelerated time-to-market.
- Broad exposure to technology solutions and business processes across ecommerce, retail, supply chain, product creation, HR & finance, etc.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate complex technology concepts into business outcomes; comfortable engaging with senior business stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Influence: Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills across technology and business domains. Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language for leaders and stakeholders and influence outcomes.
