Robotic Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and configure robotic applications (pick-and-place, welding, material handling, assembly robots) including tool calibration, end-effector selection, cell layout.

• Commission new robotic cells: installation, debugging, safety guarding, interlocks, and production hand-over.
  
• Maintain existing robotic systems: troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software faults; perform preventive maintenance; optimize cycle time and reliability.
  
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on breakdowns/failures of robotic cells; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  
• Work on automation improvements tied to manufacturing KPIs (line availability, throughput, quality).
  
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (machine guarding, emergency stops, robot safe zones).
  
• Create technical documentation: robot programs, BOMs for end-effectors, maintenance logs, training manuals.
  
• Train production/maintenance staff on safe operation, basic troubleshooting of robot cells.
  
• Collaborate with vendors, integrators and internal teams for upgrades, retrofit projects or capacity expansions.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualification: BE / BTech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical or equivalent.
  
• Experience: Typically 3-7 years in industrial robotics/automation, preferably in automotive/manufacturing environment.
