HR Retainer – HR & Talent Partner (Retainer Basis)

Location

Wakad / Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune (On-site / Hybrid as agreed)

Duration & Engagement

  • Engagement on a retainer/contract basis (e.g., 6 months initially, renewable)

Purpose of the Role

As HR Retainer for Wavereco Consulting LLP, you will provide ongoing human-resources support, talent acquisition, employee engagement and people-operations guidance to enable the growth of the organisation. You will act as the primary HR point-person for the Pune office, ensuring HR processes, compliance, culture and employee lifecycle are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Partner with business leads to understand hiring needs, roles, skills and timelines.
  • Source, screen, interview, and recommend candidates for open positions (both junior and mid-level).
  • Manage the full onboarding process: orientation, documentation, induction, issuance of offer letters, joining formalities.
  • Maintain the candidate database / ATS (or Excel/spreadsheet if no ATS) and track pipelines.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain employee records, contracts, statutory compliance (PF, ESI, labour laws) as per Maharashtra norms.
  • Support monthly payroll processing coordination (liaise with payroll service provider, verify inputs).
  • Manage leave, attendance, performance review timelines and escalation of issues.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and handbook (or update existing) aligned with organisation size and culture.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Conduct regular engagement initiatives: welcome sessions, feedback meetings, pulse surveys, team-activities.
  • Act as advisor to managers on employee relations, grievances, disciplinary matters, exit interviews and retention strategies.
  • Support career growth dialogues: help define performance review process, goals, development plans.

Reporting & Metrics

  • Provide monthly HR dashboard: hiring status, attrition, engagement scores, compliance status, open positions.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce hiring timelines, improve retention, enhance employee satisfaction.

Strategic HR Partnering

  • Work closely with office leadership to understand business objectives and translate into people-strategies.
  • Recommend organisational structure changes, role clarity, job descriptions, career paths as Wavereco grows.
  • Keep abreast of HR best-practices in fintech/finance sector (since Wavereco is in financial/forex advisory space) and advise accordingly.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (preferably 3-8 years) in HR generalist / HR business partner role, ideally in a small/mid sized organisation.
  • Hands-on experience in full cycle recruitment, HR operations, employee engagement, policy creation.
  • Good knowledge of Indian labour laws, especially applicable to Maharashtra.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational & time-management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks under retainer hours.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, suggest solutions and drive them through.
  • Preferred: Experience in fast-paced service or financial industry (e.g., fintech, financial advisory) would be a plus.
  • Educational qualification: Degree in HR / Business Administration / Psychology or equivalent; HR certification is a plus.

Deliverables & KPIs

  • Onboard all new hires within X days of offer acceptance (target to be defined)
  • Maintain attrition below Y% annually (to be defined)
  • Ensure 100% compliance of statutory filings & employee records monthly
  • Deliver monthly HR dashboard and one improvement recommendation each quarter
  • Achieve employee engagement survey score of Z (or increase over baseline)

Working Conditions

  • Mostly office-based in Wakad, Pune with potential remote/hybrid days if agreed.
  • Expect to act as the HR go-to person for all people matters; may occasionally require attendance outside standard hours if critical issues arise.
  • Retainer basis – your working hours each month will be agreed ahead; any extra hours may be billed separately (if applicable).
