Job Description

The Resident Medical Officer(RMO) is responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of the entire college community. This includes providing general medical care, managing medical emergencies, maintaining accurate health records, and promoting a healthy campus environment. The RMO will work closely with other campus departments, including student affairs, administration, and support staff.

Key responsibilities

Patient care:

  • Provide primary healthcare and first-aid treatment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments, diagnose medical conditions, and administer appropriate treatments.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as needed for minor illnesses and injuries.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and progress, and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Perform routine medical procedures and assist in emergency situations.

Medical administration:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all patients.
  • Follow all college policies and protocols related to patient care and medical ethics.
  • Liaise with external specialists and arrange for the transfer of patients to larger medical facilities when necessary.
  • Manage the inventory of medical supplies and equipment within the college health center.

Emergency management:

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and critical situations on campus.
  • Stabilize patients and provide advanced life support, including CPR, when required.
  • Notify relevant college personnel, patients' families, and local authorities during emergencies.

Health and safety promotion:

  • Conduct or recommend health-related sessions for students and staff on current medical developments and wellness.
  • Oversee campus-wide health programs, such as vaccination drives.
  • Implement infection control measures and promote public health awareness on campus.
  • Perform periodic health checkups for students and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Licensing: Valid registration with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC).
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is often required. Experience as a Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is a strong advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • The ability to act calmly and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Proficiency in Tamil is generally preferred for communicating with the local community.

Work environment:

  • Typically involves rotational shifts, which may include nights, weekends, and on-call duty.
  • The role is based within the college health center but may require responding to emergencies anywhere on campus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
