Job Title: Regional Merchandiser - Indian Ethnic Wear (Taneira) Location: Bangalore Regional Office Department: Category / Merchandising Reports To: Business Manager


Role Overview: The Regional Merchandiser will lead the curation and optimization of Indian Ethnic Wear assortments across South India, focusing on regional tastes, cultural nuances, and competitive dynamics. The role demands a sharp understanding of local fashion preferences, price sensitivities, and cluster-wise demand to ensure the right product mix across stores. Collaboration with design, buying, planning, and retail teams is key to translating regional insights into effective merchandising strategies. Key Responsibilities: Regional Assortment Planning Curate region-specific product assortments aligned with local cultural preferences, festivals, and fashion sensibilities. Recommend new product ranges and styles based on regional demand gaps and emerging trends. Ensure assortment diversity across clusters (urban, semi-urban, Tier 2/3 towns) with appropriate price band coverage. Competitive & Market Study Conduct ongoing competitive benchmarking across regional players (e.g., Nallis, Tulsi, Kankatala) to identify assortment opportunities and pricing strategies. Track regional fashion movements and consumer buying patterns to inform central design and buying teams. Cluster-Based Merchandising Develop cluster-level merchandising strategies based on store performance, local demographics, and consumer behavior. Recommend suggestive mix of SKUs across price bands to cater to varied customer segments (value, mid-premium, premium). Inventory & Store Execution Align inventory planning with regional assortment needs to ensure optimal stock availability and freshness. Monitor store-level product movement and recommend timely replenishments or markdowns based on regional performance.


Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with design, planning, VM, and marketing teams to ensure regional relevance in product launches and campaigns. Support retail teams with product knowledge and assortment rationale to enhance customer engagement. Skill Area Description Regional Product Knowledge Strong grasp of Indian ethnic wear categories and regional fashion preferences Market Intelligence Ability to interpret competitive landscape and consumer insights Merchandising Strategy Experience in cluster-based assortment planning and price band optimization Communication & Collaboration Effective coordination with central and regional teams Education Bachelors/Masters in Fashion Technology, Merchandising, Business, or related (e.g., B.F.Tech NIFT, B.Tech APM) Experience 3-5 years in merchandising, preferably with regional retail brands or category-focused roles
