Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Machine Shop Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that machined components meet required specifications and quality standards. This includes performing dimensional inspections using precision measuring tools, maintaining quality records, and assisting in resolving production quality issues. Key Responsibilities: Inspect incoming raw materials, in-process parts, and finished machined components. Use precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and CMM (if applicable). Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications. Record and document inspection results in inspection reports and control charts. Identify and report non-conformities; assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections as per inspection plans. Collaborate with machinists and production supervisors to ensure quality compliance. Maintain calibration of measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Follow safety, health, and environmental procedures and company quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100). Requirements: ITI / Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and measuring tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Familiarity with CNC and VMC processes is an advantage. Basic computer skills; experience with MS Excel or quality software is a plus.
