Job Description

The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of raw materials, in-process, and finished products through rigorous testing, audits, and adherence to food safety standards. This role involves monitoring hygiene, conducting audits, revising SOPs, training workers, and addressing contamination issues to maintain high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hygiene & Safety Audits:

    Conduct personal hygiene checks, store audits, and comprehensive food safety audits. Train workers on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols.
  • Quality Testing:

    Perform testing on raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples including swabs (hands, equipment), air, and water to ensure microbial safety.
  • SOP Management:

    Review and revise microbial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with relevant Indian Standards (IS). Document and report any deviations, rejections, or non-conformances.
  • Product Evaluation:

    Assess product attributes such as taste, texture, flavor, density, weight, height, and color for syrups, sponges, creams, chocolates, fruits, and food colors.
  • Chemical Analysis:

    Conduct chemical testing on dry products such as sponges, toast, khari, and cookies to ensure quality and safety.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Monitoring:

    Ensure operational controls such as functioning fly catchers, proper covering and labeling of raw and finished materials, removal of expired stock, machine cleanliness, and effective cooling of sponges.
  • Contamination Control:

    Identify root causes of contamination and cross-contamination, and promptly report findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Communication & Reporting:

    Inform Heads of Departments (HODs) and supervisors regarding any non-compliance, contamination issues, or quality deviations to facilitate timely corrective actions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in quality control within the food industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, food safety standards, and microbial testing techniques.
  • Ability to conduct audits and provide effective training.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills for effective reporting and team collaboration.
