Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Incharge Quality (GU) is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic quality control framework for cement production, incorporating Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control (SPC). This role involves overseeing all quality control stages, from raw material analysis to cement dispatch, ensuring adherence to international standards and local regulations. The Incharge Quality (GU)) provides technical guidance on advanced testing methods, drives process optimization and innovation, and manages the QC budget. They enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance, prepare detailed quality reports, and uphold ethical standards in all QC activities.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Strategic Quality Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control strategy for cement production, incorporating Six Sigma methodologies and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques. Oversee quality control protocols across all stages, including raw material analysis and cement dispatch. Technical Oversight and Guidance: Provide expert guidance on technical aspects such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for chemical analysis and Blaine fineness measurement for particle size distribution. Ensure adherence to the Cement Quality Management System (CQMS) and regular calibration of testing equipment like Vicat apparatus and autoclave for soundness testing. Process Optimization and Innovation: Implement Lean Six Sigma principles to identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality control. Regulatory and Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with international standards like ASTM and EN, as well as local BIS norms, for all quality control activities. Maintain and review quality documentation and records, including calibration certificates and compliance reports, for regulatory audits and certifications. Budget and Cost Management: Oversee the QC budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of testing equipment and materials, such as sample preparation tools and automated testing systems. Evaluate the financial impact of quality control measures and process changes, focusing on reducing production costs while maintaining product quality. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Implement and enforce health and safety protocols in the QC laboratory, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, such as emission standards and waste management practices, related to quality control activities. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive quality reports using advanced data analytics tools, presenting key metrics like defect rates and process variations to senior management. Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all QC processes, including equipment calibration logs and test result records, for transparency and traceability. Ethics and Governance: Uphold ethical standards in all QC activities, ensuring adherence to integrity and fairness in test reporting and decision-making. Implement internal controls and audit procedures to prevent fraud and ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and corporate governance. Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: BSc and MSc in Chemistry. Certified Internal Quality Auditor (ISO9001 - 2015) with knowledge of EN standards. Work Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in quality control within the cement industry, including 3 years in a managerial role. Industry Knowledge: Extensive understanding of quality control processes in cement production, including chemical analysis and particle size measurement. Proficient in international standards (ASTM, EN) and local BIS norms, with experience in advanced testing technologies.
