Purchase Officer

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a Purchase Executive with at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry, specifically in procuring plumbing materials, electrical cables & lighting, raw materials, and civil construction materials. The candidate should be well-versed in vendor management, cost negotiation, and timely procurement to support project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Procure plumbing materials, electrical cables, wires, switches, lighting fixtures, and civil construction materials (cement, sand, aggregates, steel, etc.)

Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery timelines, and reliability

Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors

Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and maintain purchase records

Coordinate with site engineers, stores, and project teams for material requirements

Ensure timely delivery of materials at project sites

Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock

Verify material quality and compliance with project specifications

Maintain vendor database and develop long-term supplier relationships

Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelors degree / Diploma in any relevant field

Minimum 2 years of experience in construction procurement

Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and civil materials

Good negotiation and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple suppliers and urgent site requirements

Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and purchase documentation

Good understanding of GST, invoicing, and basic logistics

Preferred Skills:

Experience in real estate / infrastructure / contracting companies

Familiarity with local and national suppliers

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
