Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Sourcing raw materials, components, and production supplies to meet manufacturing schedules
  • Managing supplier relationships with focus on quality certifications and production capacity
  • Coordinating with production planning teams to ensure material availability and avoid production delays
  • Implementing just-in-time (JIT) procurement strategies to optimize inventory and reduce carrying costs
  • Managing capital equipment purchases and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Conducting supplier audits and capability assessments for critical production materials
  • Managing long-term supply agreements and framework contracts for strategic materials

Preferred candidate profile

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
  • Understanding of contract law, negotiation techniques, and vendor management
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and compliance requirements

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for supplier interactions
  • Ability to present procurement strategies and recommendations to management
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with internal stakeholders

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking for supplier evaluation and cost analysis
  • Ability to identify and resolve supply chain issues and bottlenecks
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities for procurement optimization
  • Critical thinking skills for risk assessment and mitigation

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Professional certifications such as CPIM, CPSM, or APICS (preferred)
  • Additional qualifications in procurement, logistics, or operations management

Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
  • Experience with supplier negotiations, contract management, and vendor relations
  • Background in relevant industry sectors (manufacturing, retail, healthcare, etc.)

Work Environment

  • Full-time office-based role with occasional supplier visits and trade shows
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams and regular interaction with external suppliers
  • May require occasional travel for supplier audits and relationship building
